This review is from: Dean V 79 Electric Guitar, Set Neck, Classic BlackI purchased one of these recently from Dean to replace my damaged Gibson LP Standard, and it was supposed to be a fill in until I could get enough cash together for another LP...however, after playing this thing often, I have found it to handle easier than an LP, being much lighter, but the tone is just as right on...the zebra pickups are remarkably similiar to the Gibson '59 sound, and the bound neck is fast and slim like a tapered '60's neck...amazing! Light, versatile, and an unbelievable value in this price range. Other guitar makers entries in this price range are at best souped up versions of their starter guitars...this was the most pleasant surprise of the last 5 years for me. Oh, and I should mention that I am a busy player who needs a sturdy platform to rock on...this baby meets and exceeds those needs...I would suggest adding this fine instrument to your axe collection, and use it often!...
This review is from: Dean V 79 Electric Guitar, Set Neck, Classic BlackThis is an awsome guitar. I had a washburn x serise guitar and it did not feel comfortable to my hand. The side of my hand kept scraping on the bridge. So I traded it in for the Dean V X, and I do not regret it. I was surpirsed at the price on it. I thought it would be over 250 bucks but I found it for less. The action on it is sorta high, but makes my wrist fit comfortably. And the V shape makes it easier to hit the high notes without straining my hand. This guitar is perfect for people playing anything from heavy metal, thrash, speed even black metal. My only advice for someone buying a guitar, use the net for looking at prices. Its always better to pick it up and try it at the store so that you can feel for yourself before you buy it. If you buy it online there is always a chance that it wont feel right when it arrives at your doorstep. I own 9 guitars, and I can say from experience that it better to try it at the store so that you dont have to deal with the waiting part. And also avoids the waiting period if you have to ship it back and choose another one. You should never risk that, since it could arrive damaged durring the shipment. For those of you that have back problems like I do, this is the guitar for you. It is light weight, easier to play. The only things I dont like so much is that 1, the screws for the strap knobs are huge and one of them it on the back of the kneck. You would have to drill a new hole for straplocks, and that could cause damege you dont need. The best way to deal with that is to use a strap that has nylon ends instead of swade leather. Bottom line, its an awsome guitar, and its fun to play. Also good for beginers, but for us experienced players, put 10 gage strings on instead of 9 gage. It keeps the action high enough to keep from getting that rattle sound on some of the lower nots. You will need a case built for this modle, but the price for the guitar, straps, and case is all worth it in the end. All you metal heads out there would love this guitar, SO BUY IT! And keep on rocking!...
This review is from: Dean V 79 Electric Guitar, Set Neck, Classic BlackI have played many guitars over the years and took a break for a few. I recently had the urge to play again and pick up some better equipment but I did not want to plunk down the cash needed for a Les Paul this time and could not find one used for a good price. A few years ago I picked up a very good Dean acoustic that impressed me enough to lead me in the Dean direction again. I always loved Triumph's flying V look and never owned a V of any kind so it was time to try one out. I even bought it online which was something hard to do as you get what you get.The guitar came and it was perfect. Sounds great on my Line 6 spider jam and has a good solid comfortable feel, quality construction and is very close to a Les Paul neck which I am used to.The sustain is good and to top it off it is of course...lighter than my old Les Pauls. I like this guitar better than the Kramer I owned before and I never was comfortable with a Fender neck....
