Yamaha Portable Grand DGX505 Electronic Keyboard Piano

This review is from: Yamaha Portable Grand DGX505 Electronic Keyboard PianoThe acoustic sounds that this keyboard produces are impressive. The grand piano, horns, guitars, and drums are excellent. The built-in songs demonstrate the sonic capabilities of the instrument very well. The keyboard touch response is adequate for all but lead-fisted pounders. The user interface is, for the most part, clear and easy to use with many short-cut procedures built-in. The display is bright, easy to read, and well organized. Of course, the built-in learning system, easy to use recorder, metronome, rhythm patterns, and accompaniments make this an excellent choice for beginning muscians. Yet, the acoustic sounds are good enough for even more advanced players and could easily be the perfect instrument for one-man-band type performers. The stereo speakers produces clean, spacious sound that gives the music a lifelike feel. Where this keyboard begins to fall short is for more experienced and technically astute players who would prefer to have more powerful and complex functions built-in. Like better, more extensive effects processing, a more robust sequencer, an arppegiator, a more versitile rhythm processor, more one-touch/twist accessible sound modifiers, more internal user memory, a more responsive, weighted keyboard, etc. Of course, all these things come with a price and adding them would bump-up the price of the keyboard - which is one of the most attractive things about it! Typically, for less than $600 you can own one ... not many instruments of this caliber can make that claim! I hope Yamaha continues this line with just a little beefier, more expandable model. In particular they need to replace the Smart Media card slot with a USB port that will allow plugging in any of the myriad of cheap USB memory devices currently available for offline storage. Also, I would add more user accessible internal memory (relatively cheap). I would beef-up the sequencer and add some additional effects / processing options. And, I would add an expansion slot for additional sound sets and/or add-on functionality. Nonetheless, for the money, the sound, and the playability, you can't beat this instrument. I liked it the first time I saw/played it and I still do (after a year of owning it). Good job Yamaha!...

Organic Valley Organic Nonfat Dry Milk Powder pack holds 12 ounce in a pack of 4 with a total of 48 ounce

Great for cooking

Convenient for on the go

This review is from: Organic Valley Organic Nonfat Dry Milk Powder, 12-Ounce Bags (Pack of 4)Organic Valley Organic Nonfat Dry Milk Powder definitely sets the standard for other dry milks! It does not have that "processed, cardboard" taste that supermarket milks have and the fact that it is organic only adds to the wholesome nature of this item. I mainly use dry milk for baking and when I make yogurt, so a fresh taste is essential to the finished product. If you're considering purchasing dry milk, I would highly recommend that you try Organic Valley....

This review is from: Organic Valley Organic Nonfat Dry Milk Powder, 12-Ounce Bags (Pack of 4)I do quite a bit of baking, and when a recipe calls for milk, I usually add dry milk powder to the dry ingredients and then add water for the liquid. Over the years, I've tried many different dry/instant milks. This is the best! The convenient pouch is resealable, and easy to open wide enough to insert a measuring cup. To me, that is preferable for measuring over a small pour spout. The milk powder itself is silky in texture, and dissolves quickly. It doesn't seeem to lump and clump like many do. The flavor is excellent, like all Organic Valley products. While I don't personally reconstitute dry milk for drinking by the glass, for those who do, this could be a good choice due to the ease in dissolving and the fine flavor. Because the seal is quite secure, it is also more shelf stable than most. This has earned an ongoing place in my pantry....

On Stage KT7800 Padded Keyboard Bench

This review is from: On Stage KT7800 Padded Keyboard BenchOn Stage sell two benches that are easy to confuse because they have similar model numbers:KT7800Adjustable height: 18.75", 20", 20.50"Weight capacity: 300 lbs.Seat: 12" x 17"; 2" cushionWeight: 11.5 lbs.KT7800+ On Stage KT7800 Plus Keyboard BenchAdjustable height: 19", 21", 23", 25"Weight capacity: 360 lbs.Seat: 12.5" x 23.5"; 3" cushionWeight: 14 lbs. This one (KT7800) is a no-frills basic bench. Each leg has 3 holes for the pivot bolt. Height is adjusted by removing the pivot bolt and reinstalling it with two washers through a different pair of holes. This is not difficult, but if the intent is to adjust it several times a day for different members of the family, I'd choose a different style. The advantage of this design is once you set the height, it remains until you intentionally change it.One side of the scissor base is permanently attached to the seat with brackets that allow it to pivot; the other side fits into 2 c-shaped brackets. To keep the legs from collapsing when you lift the bench off the floor, you hand tighten a bolt across the opening of each c bracket whenever you set it up; the bolts have plastic knobs. This works fine for most applications. But if I were assembling half a dozen of them several times a day, I'd prefer a single lever latch. The larger KT7800+ has a different design for adjusting height, best understood by going to the onstagestands web site and entering "KT7800+" in the search box. While there, you might also want to take a quick look at the KT7800; Amazon often displays the wrong photo for this bench. For home use, I'm happy with the KT7800. It's sturdy and comfortable, utilitarian in appearance with decent workmanship (China), folds for storage or travel, sets up and adjusts easily without tools. Cushion is a bit soft -- maybe too soft for playing guitar or other hand-held instruments. A good value....

This review is from: On Stage KT7800 Padded Keyboard BenchThis is a nicely built, sturdy little bench seat that folds flat for easy storage and transport. Compared to other low cost benches, it has better seat padding and a better weight capacity of 375 lbs. It's sturdy enough that I use it as a quick step stool, but normal use is for keyboards, occasionally as a drum throne. Only downside is the height adjustment is a bit awkward; you move the pivot point bolt.Highly recommended as long as you have light duty/occasional use plans....

This review is from: On Stage KT7800 Padded Keyboard BenchGreat lightweight, portable, sturdy bench. Perfect for moving around between keyboards or even just for a spare seat when friends show up....

Korg KDM-2 True Tone Advanced Digital Metronome

This review is from: Korg KDM-2 True Tone Advanced Digital Metronomebut it doesn't do much more than the less-expensive Korg MA-30. That said, I like the KDM-2 quite a bit. It's an improvement on the KDM-1 (which I like very much also - it's just a more basic metronome), and similarly designed. The KDM-2 shares these features with the MA-30: tap-in beat; subdivided beats; 12 calibrated tuning notes (you can choose the exact tuning - A=440, 441, etc); mute button. The added KDM-2 features: son clave & rumba beats (3-2, and 2-3); choice of 4 different click sounds; LCD display; LED beat indicator; loud volume (I play trumpet & have no problem hearing the metronome), and tempo selection in standard metronomic increments (60, 63, 66, etc) in addition to +/- 1 beats (60, 61, 62, etc). You should get the KDM-2 instead of the MA-30 if you need the extra latin beats, the different click sounds (at least one of which should cut through most loud playing, or possibly small ensemble volume) or the LED indicator (the light however doesn't seem as strong as that of the KDM-1). If these extras aren't enough, the MA-30 would be an excellent choice....

This review is from: Korg KDM-2 True Tone Advanced Digital MetronomeI purchased this as a gift for my wife for her piano. As far as we are concerned, this thing is perfect. It's intuitive and easy to use. It's loud. It has more beats than we'll probably ever use, and it has a number of other nice features that make it a perfect metronome for our (her) needs. The device is also rather small. I pictured it bigger, but was surprised to find that it is tiny and doesn't draw too much attention while sitting on the piano. Among the other metronomes I've looked at, this one is also rather pleasing aesthetically -- though that is hardly a reason to buy.The main reason to buy this is that it is loud with a nice click sound and it can be used for any instrument, even drums. I balked at the price, but it is a precision device and it shows. We are very pleased....

This review is from: Korg KDM-2 True Tone Advanced Digital MetronomeActually, a GREAT metronome, except apparently I'm the only one who finds the dial exasperatingly hard to turn. A simple set of up/down buttons would have been much more ergonomic. I solved the design flaw with carpet tape (double-sided duct tape) and the tops of two zip ties. I posted an image under "customer images". Now it works beautifully and is easy as pie to spin to the desired tempo. I rated only one star in an effort to get Korg's attention. Really an excellent product with an annoyingly designed tempo dial....
